Amoxicillin is an antibiotic which belongs to penicillin that it can fight against the bacteria in our body. It mainly useful to treat several infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, gonorrhea and also the infections of the throat, ear, nose, skin and urinary tract etc. it can be used individually or in the combination with other antibiotics such as clarithromycin to treat stomach ulcers due to the helicobacter pylori infection.

Information about amoxicillin:

It cannot be used if the patient is allergic to the antibiotics, tell your doctor if you have asthma, liver or kidney diseases, and also blood clotting disorders.

Amoxicillin pregnancy:

It can make the contraceptives less effective; tell your doctor about using other birth control methods like condoms, diaphragm, and spermicide.? Dosage pattern of the amoxicillin:

For adults

Anthrax Prophylaxis

This is about 500mg to be taken orally for every 8hrs; it is a complete 60days course for the pregnant and lactation mothers. It is an anti-microbial therapy of 60days.

Bacillus anthracis

This is about 500mg to be taken orally for three times a day. However, oral amoxicillin is not considered as a first line drug and the total course time should be completed because if not the symptoms of this may increases.

Urinary tract infection:

This is about 250-500mg to be taken orally for 3 times a day alternatively, 500-875mg to be taken orally twice a day.

Helicobacter infection:

It is about 1g to be taken orally 2-3 times a day for about 14days. It can use as a proton-pump inhibitor in the combination with metronidazole and bismuth sub-salicylate.

Pneumonia:

It is about 500mg to be taken orally for 3 days or it may be 875mg to be taken orally for 7-10 days.

Sinusitis:

It is about 250-500mg to be taken 3 times day for 10-14days,alternatively 500-875mg to be taken orally twice a day.

Upper respiratory tract infection:

It is about 250-500mg to be taken 3 times day for 10-14days,alternatively 500-875mg to be taken orally twice a day.

Bronchitis:

It is about 250-500mg to be taken 3 times day for 10-14days, alternatively 500-875mg to be taken orally twice a day.

Pediatric dose:

Endocarditis prophylaxis:

It is about 50mg to be taken orally as a single dose 1hr before the procedure, it is not suitable for the endocarditis prophylaxis for the patient who have heart problems.

Anthrax prophylaxis:

It is about 80mg/kg it is can be divided into three equal doses and administered orally for every 8hrs, maximum dose for one day is about 500mg.

Urinary tract infections:

4weeks-3months:

20-30mg/kg it can be divided and given orally for every 12hrs.

4-12yrs: 20-50mg/kg in a day for every 8-12hr.

Pneumonia:

40-50mg/kg to be taken orally in dived doses for every 8hrs.

  • Fast heartbeat

Hypersensitivity:
