Anxiety is A  feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome. This is an emotion and it is a normal part of life .you might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work or making an important decision. This is a feeling of fear and, uneasiness and worry, usually generalized unfocused as an overreaction to a situation . This disorders involve more then temporary worry and fear.  Anxiety cannot  go away but it worsen over time. This feeling  may interfere with the daily activities such as the job performance ,school work, and relationships.

There are several different types of  these disorders ,examples include generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorders .it is accompanied by muscular tension,restlessness,fatigue,and problems in concentration  .This disorder can be appropriate, but  when experienced regularly the individual may suffer with the disorder.

This disorder can be either a short term state, whereas this  represents worrying about future events. This  disorder are partly genetic but may also be due to drug use including  alcohol, caffeine and  benzodiazepines as well as withdrawal from drugs of abuse ,they occur also due to the other mental disorders ,particularly bipolar ,eating disorders , major depressive disorders or certainly personality disorders .common treatment options include lifestyle changes ,medication And therapy.

Symptoms of anxiety:

Generalized anxiety disorder:

People with disorder have excessive anxiety or worry for months and face-several anxiety –related symptoms.

Symptoms of Generalized anxiety disorder:

  • Restlessness
  • Difficulty in concentration
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tension
  • Difficulty in controlling worry
  • Sleep problems


Severe Panic disorders:

People with disorder experience unexpected panic attacks, the symptoms include accelerated heart rate, sweating ,trembling or shaking ,sudden and repeated attacks of intense fear , feeling of being out of control during a apnil attack, intense worries about what happens next , fear or avoidance of palces with panic attacks have occurred in the past.

Symptoms of severe panic disorder

  • Shortness of breathe
  • Chest pain discomfort
  • Trembling and shaking
  • Nausea or stomach upset
  • Numbness
  • Fear of dying , loosing control
  • Going crazy


Social anxiety disorder:

It is also called as “social phobia” it is a fear of social performance  situation in which they expect to feel embarrassed , judged, or fearful

Symptoms Social anxiety disorder:

  • Feeling highly anxious about being with other people and having a hard to talking to them
  • Felling very self-conscious in front of other people and worried about feeling embarrassed or rejected
  • Being very afraid that other people will judge
  • Worrying for days or weeks
  • Having hard time in making friends

Risk factors:

Researches find that finding that genetic and environmental factors ,frequently in interaction with one another are risk factors for this  disorders .specific factors include :

  • Shyness
  • Having few economic resources
  • Being divorced and widowed
  • Exposure to stressful life events in childhood
  • Parental history of mental disorders
  • Elevated afternoon cortisol levels .

Anxiety disorders are generally treated with psychotherapy, medication or both.

Overcoming anxiety without medication:

This  disorder is generally treated with psychotherapy, medication or both.

Psychotherapy :

Psychotherapy or talk therapy can help people with this disorders. A typical side effect of psychotherapy is temporary discomfort involved with thinking feared situations.

Cognitive behavioral therapy:

Cbt is an psychotherapy that can help people with this disorders. It teaches a person a different ways of thinking, behaving, and reacting to the anxiety producing and fearful situations.  Cbt can also help people learn and practice skills which is vital for treating  social anxiety disorders.

Cbt used to treat social this disorder by two ways:

Cognitive therapy and exposure therapy

Cognitive therapy : it focuses on identifying ,challenging, and thern neutralizing, unhelpful thoughts underlying  in this disorders.

Exposure therapy:exposure therapy focuses on facing the fears underlying in this  disorder in order to help people engage in activities they have been avoiding, exposure therapy is a kind of relaxation therapy.

Cbt may be conducted individually or with a group of people who have similar problems . group theapy is particularly for social anxiety disorder.

Stress management techniques :

Aerobic exercise has a calming effect caffeine like drugs relieves us from the stress and some of the medication which are associated with the symptoms of this disorders, avoiding them is needed.


Common anxiety medication:

Medication does not  cure this disorder  but it relieves symptoms

The most common classes or medication used to treat this disorder are anti- depressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and beta blockers, be aware that some of the medications are effective only when it taken regularly and that symptoms may reoccur if the medication is stopped.

Anti – depressants:

These are the medicines will treat depressions, as well as treating this disorders. They take several weeks to start working and may cause side effects such as headache , nausea or difficulty in sleeping.

Anti-anxiety medication:

These drugs can reduce the symptoms of this disorder, panic attacks, extreme fears and worry. The most common anti-anxiety medication are called benzodiazepines ,these are the drugs which are used widely

Beta blockers:

Such as propranolol and atenolol are helpful in the treating of the physical symptoms of this disorders, choosing the right medication , medication dose and treatment plan is based on a person’s needs and medical situation and dose under expert care .
