Augmentin is the group of drugs called penicillin’s, it contains a combination of Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. It fights against the bacteria of the body.
It is mainly used to treat the many infections caused due to bacteria, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, urinary tract infections.
Information about Augmentin:
It is not to be used if the patient is allergic to these drugs, or if the liver problems like jaundice, hepatitis etc. it is not too given to the pregnant women or it may pass into breast milk and may harm the child. It your taking these pills, contraceptive pills will not work effectively.
Dosage pattern of Augmentin:
It is about 500mg to be taken orally for every 12hrs or 250mg for every 8hrs. if the infection is more than the dose is about 875mg to be taken orally for every 12hrs or 500mg for every 8hrs.

The patients having the glomerular filtration rate up to <30ml/min. should not to be given 875mg. or if the patients having glomerular filtration rate up to 10-30ml/min. should receive 500mg or 250mg for every 12hrs.depending on the severity of the infection.
The patients weighing 40kg or more should be dosed according to the adult recommendations. Due to the presence of difference in the concentrations of the normal tablet and the chew able tablet.
It can be taken without regards to meals, to minimize the potential of git intolerance it can be administered at the start of the meal.
