Clindamycin is an antibiotic and fights against bacteria in the body. It is mainly used to treat the serious infections caused by the bacteria.
Information about clindamycin:
It can cause diarrhea and life-threatening problems. If the diarrhea is watery or bloody stop using this medication seek immediate help of the doctor. Dosage pattern of clindamycin:
Oral: if the serious infection it is about 150-300mg for every 6hrs, if the infection is more severe than the dose is about 300-450mg to be taken orally for every 6hrs.
Serious infection; it is about 600-1,200mg via IV or IM injection per day in 2-4 equal doses.
Severe infection: 1,200 -2,700mg via IV infection or IM injection per day in 2-4 equal divide dose.
More severe infection: it is about 4,800mg via IV infusion per day
Uses: serious infections caused due to the organisms such as – streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci, respiratory tract infections.
Body weight 10kg or less
minimum recommended dose: 37.5mg to be taken orally for three times a day.
Body weight about 11kg or more:
Serious infection; 8-12mg /kg to be taken orally per day, in 3-4 equal doses
Severe infection: 13-16mg/kg to be taken orally 3-4 equally divide doses
The overdose of ciprofloxacin may be fatal. Seek the emergency help of a doctor.

- Red, swollen, and scaly skin
- Loss of heat from the body
- Cracks in the skin
Incidence not known:
- Bleeding gums
- Blurred vision
- Chest pain
- Bloody urine
- Dark urine
- Fast heartbeat
- Loss of appetite
- Lower back pain
Gastrointestinal: pseudomembranous colitis symptoms may occur during or after antibacterial treatment, an unpleasant metallic taste reported at high doses of IV clindamycin.
