It is about 750mg to be taken orally for 3times a day for 5-10days

Pseudomembranous colitis:

Iti is about 500mg to be taken orally for 3 times a day duration therapy: 10days

Prophylaxis:

It is about 15mg/kg for 6-12hrs after the initial dose

Trichomoniasis:

It is about 2g orally as a single dose

Helicobacter pylori infection:

It is about 250mg to be taken orally for 4times a day

Triple therapy: it is about 500mg to be taken orally twice a day

Duration therapy: 10-14days

Bacterial vaginosis:

It is about 750mg to be taken orally once a day for 7 days

Aspiration pneumonia:

It is about 15mg/kg IV

Maintenance dose: it is about 7.5mg/kg IV for every 6hrs

Oral: 7.5mg/kg to be taken orally for every 6hrs

Maximum dose: 4g per day

Duration therapy: 7-10 days

Meningitis:

It is about 15mg/kg IV

Maintenance dose:  it is about 7.5mg/kg per every 6hrs

Oral: 7.5mg/kg for every 6hrs

Maximum dose: 4g per day

Duration therapy: 7-10 days

Diverticulitis:

It is about 15mg/kg IV

Maintenance dose: IT IS ABOUT 7.5MG/KG FPR EVERY 6HRS

Oral: 7.5mg/kg for every 6hrs

Maximum dose: 4g per day

Duration therapy: 7-10 days

Metronidazole overdose:

The overdose of Metronidazole may be fatal. Seek the emergency help of a doctor.

Metronidazole side effects:

Severity: major

Rare:

  • Red, swollen, and scaly skin
  • Loss of heat from the body
  • Cracks in the skin

Incidence not known:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Blurred vision
  • Chest pain
  • Chills
  • Bloody urine
  • Confusion
  • Dark urine
  • Diarrhea
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Lower back pain

Gastrointestinal: pseudomembranous colitis symptoms may occur during or after antibacterial treatment, an unpleasant metallic taste reported at high doses of IV clindamycin.
