Simvastatin is the drugs called HMG coA reductase or statins. It can reduce the level low-density lipoprotein or LDL and triglycerides in the blood while increasing the good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein).

It mainly used to treat the high cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood, heart attack, risk of stroke, diabetes, coronary heart disease.

Information about Simvastatin:

The women should not be taken if they are allergic, pregnant and breastfeeding, or if any liver diseases. The interaction may occur if the medications along with the atorvastatin, in rare cases it can cause breakdown of skeleton muscle which leads to  kidney failure; seek emergency treatment if you have to feel any fever, muscle pain, and a colored urine. Avoid eating foods which contain high fat. Avoid consuming alcohol it can raise the triglyceride levels and increases the risk of liver damage.

Hypercholesterolemia:

It is about 40mg to be taken orally once in a day in the evening

Maintenance dose: it is about 40-80mg to be taken orally once in a day

Myocardial infarction:

Initial dose: 40mg to be taken orally once a day

Maintenance dose: 40-80mg to be taken once a day
