Zyrtec or Cetrizine, is an antihistamine and it works by reducing the natural chemical histamine in the human body. Histamine can produce the symptoms like a runny nose, itching, and watery eyes. It is used to treat the cold and allergy symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes, running nose, and itching.

It is majorly used to treat the itching and swelling caused by the hives. Hence, it is grouped under the class of antihistamines.

For Urticarial:

The minimum dosage is of about 5-10mg to be taken orally and is chewed once in a day

Children Doses:

For Allergic rhinitis:

6months-2yrs:  The minimum dose is of about 2.5mg to be taken orally once in a day,

2-5yrs: The minimum dose is of about 2.5mg to be taken orally once in a day, may be increased to 5mg in 1-2 divided doses.

6yrs or older: The minimum dose is of about 5-10mg to be taken orally or chewed once in a day

Zyrtec overdose:

The overdose of this drug may be fatal, seek emergency help from the doctor. If you observe or experience any of the below side effects then immediately consult your doctor.
