An anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or uneasy about something with an uncertain outcome. This is an emotion and it is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work or in making an important decision. This kind of feeling of fear, uneasiness and worry is usually generalised focused as an overreaction to a situation . This disorders involve more than temporary worry and fear. An anxiety cannot go away but it worsen over time. This feeling may also interfere with the daily activities such as the job performance, school work, and relationships.

There are several different types of anxiety disorders, examples include generalised anxiety disorders, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorders and it is accompanied by muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue and problems in concentration.This disorder can be appropriate, but when experienced regularly the individual may suffer with the disorder and further treatment is required.

This disorder can be either a short term state or may be permanent, whereas this represents worrying about future events. This disorder are partly genetic but may also be due to drug use including alcohol, caffeine and benzodiazepines and as well as withdrawal from drugs of abuse. Even they also occur  due to the other mental disorders, particularly bipolar, eating disorders, major depressive disorders or certainly personality disorders. The common treatment options include lifestyle changes, medication and therapy.

Symptoms of anxiety:

Generalized anxiety disorder:

People with disorder have excessive anxiety or worry for months and face-several anxiety related symptoms. The major symptoms of generalized anxiety disorders are listed below.

Symptoms of Generalized anxiety disorder:

  • Restlessness
  • Difficulty in concentration
  • Irritability
  • Muscle tension
  • Difficulty in controlling worry

Severe Panic disorders:

People with disorder experience unexpected panic attacks, the symptoms include accelerated heart rate, sweating ,trembling or shaking, sudden and repeated attacks of intense fear, feeling of being out of control during a apnil attack, intense worries about what happens next, fear or avoidance of places with panic attacks have occurred in the past. Social anxiety disorder:

It is also called as social phobia, it is a fear of social performance situation in which they expect to feel embarrassed , judged, or fearful. The symptoms of Social anxiety disorders are listed below.

  • Feeling highly anxious about being with other people and feeling hard to talk with them.
  • Feeling of very self-confidence in front of other people and worried about feeling embarrassed or rejected
  • Being very afraid that other people will judge
  • Worrying for days or weeks
  • Having hard time in making friends

Risk factors:

Researches find that finding that genetic and environmental factors, frequently in interaction with one another are risk factors for this disorders. Specific factors include :

  • Shyness
  • Having few economic resources
  • Being divorced and widowed
  • Exposure to stressful life events in childhood
  • Parental history of mental disorders
  • Elevated afternoon cortisol levels .

Anxiety disorders are generally treated with psychotherapy, medication or both.

Psychotherapy :

Psychotherapy or talk therapy can help people with this disorders. A typical side effect of psychotherapy is temporary discomfort involved with thinking feared situations.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) :

CBT is an psychotherapy that can help people with this disorders. It teaches a person with different ways of thinking, behaving, and reacting to the anxiety and fearful situations. CBT can also help people learn and practice skills which are vital for treating social anxiety disorders.

CBT used to treat social disorder are distinguished by two ways:

Cognitive therapy and exposure therapy

Cognitive therapy :  This therapy or the treatment focuses on identifying the problem, challenging and then solving the problems and thereby treating the unhelpful thoughts underlying in this disorders.

Exposure therapy: Exposure therapy focuses on facing the fears underlying in this disorder. In order to help people engage in activities they have been avoiding, exposure therapy is a kind of relaxation therapy.

CB T may be conducted for an individual or to a group of people who are suffering from similar problems. Group therapy is particularly done for social anxiety disorder.

Stress management techniques :

Aerobic exercise has a calming effect and  caffeine like drugs relieves us from the stress and some of the medication which are associated with the symptoms of this disorders, avoiding them is needed.


Common anxiety medication:

Medication does not ?cure this disorder ?but it relieves symptoms

The most common classes or medication used to treat this kind of  disorders are anti- depressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and beta blockers. But,  be aware of some medications which  are effective only when it taken regularly and even worsen the situation by reoccurring of these symptoms if the medication is stopped unexpectedly.

Anti Depressants:

These are the medicines that will treat depressions, as well as treating this disorders. These medications take several weeks to work after intake and may also cause side effects such as nausea, difficulty in sleeping and headache.

Anti-anxiety medication:

These drugs can be used to reduce the symptoms of the anxiety disorder, panic attacks, extreme fears and worries. Commonly, anti-anxiety medications are called benzodiazepines ,this drugs are used widely for relaxing from anxiety.

Beta blockers:

Such as propranolol and atenolol are helpful in the treating the physical symptoms of this kind of disorders, choosing the right medication , medication dose and treatment plan is based on a person’s need and medical situation under expert care .
