Clonidine is the medicine that works by decreasing the chemicals in your body and as a result lowering your blood pressure also.
It also allows your blood vessels to relax and reduces your heart beat.
It is mainly used in the treatment of hypertension and also treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.
Information about Clonidine:
Before intake of this medicine, inform your doctor about if you are sufferring from the diseases related to cardiac like coronary artery, heart rhythm, slow heartbeat etc. as this medicine can reduce the heartbeat. The major side effect of this medicine is allergic reaction.
Dosage pattern of clonidine:
Initial dose: is to be taken 0.1mg orally twice in a day or else as directed by your doctor.
Maintenance dose: is about 0.2-0.6mg /day is given in equally divided doses or else as directed by your doctor.
Initial dose: is about 30mcg/hr depending upon the pain relief and also the occurrence of adverse events.
Maximum dose: is about 40mcg/hr or else as directed by your doctor.
For Pheochromocytoma Diagnosis:
It is about 0.3mg to be taken orally once in a day. Only clonidine is recommended for baseline determination.
For Hypertensive Emergency:
It is about 0.2mg to be taken orally once in a day. Additional doses may be 0.1mg may be given as needed.
For Alcohol Withdrawal:
It is about 0.1mg to be taken orally twice in a day and in the form of transdermal patch once in a week.

Overdosage of Clonidine causes very serious symptoms, immediate treatment is required if any of the following symptoms are seen or experienced by the patient.
