Lyrica (pregabalin) is majorly used to treat epilepsy and seizures in adults and children. Hence, it known as an anti-epileptic medication and also called as an anticonvulsant. Lyrica can be recommended to take either alone or with the combination of other medications to treat fibromyalgia in adults with the bipolar disorder and pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes and etc.

In some cases, this drug is also used to treat neuropathic pain with spinal cord injury.

Information about Lyrica:

This medicine should be used as exactly how the doctor has prescribed and it is must for the patient to follow the directions written on the prescription label. It should not be used in small or large doses and also not for longer duration than prescribed. This medicine should be taken for only 4-8 weeks and if any extension is required then consult your doctor.

Do not crush or chew the tablets or capsules. Do not swallow the tablets or capsules rather consume it with a full glass of water.

Some of the young people who are new to these may have the thoughts of suicide, it is complete responsibility to take care of the patient. Seek medical emergency if you see any of the symptoms like behaviour changes, depression, restless, hyperactivity, hurting thoughts and etc.

Dosage pattern of Lyrica:

For Diabetic neuropathy:

The recommended minimum dose is about 100 mg three times in a day and in the patients with clear creatinine, the dosing should be 50 mg three times in a day.

For Fibromyalgia:

The minimum dose is about 300-450 mg once in a day or also may be in divided doses

Initial dose is 75 mg two times in a day, this dose may be increased up to 150 mg for two times in a day, depending upon the severity.

For Spinal cord injury:

For this, the dosage is about 150-600 mg per day, but the recommended initial dose is about 75 mg for every two days, this may be increased up to 150 mg for two times in a day as per the requirement.

For Postherpetic Neuroglia:

For this the dosage is about 75-150 mg can be taken two times in a day or 50-100mg three times in a day and in the patients with clear creatinine, the dosing should be 50 mg three times in a day.

Lyrica Side effects:

If any of the following side effects are seen or experienced in patient then consult your doctor immediately.
