Tylenol contains acetaminophen, which is a pain reliever and is also used for reducing fever. It is used to treat many problems like a headache, muscle pain, back pain, tooth pains, fevers, colds and etc.

Information arbout Tylenol:

This medicine is not to be used if the person is suffering from liver diseases. Avoid taking more acetaminophen than prescribed, because the overdose can cause liver damage and death. It is recommended not to use this medication if  you are having these symptoms nausea, pain in your upper stomach, loss of appetite, itching, dark urine, jaundice, clay-coloured stools. Avoid alcohol consumption while your are under medication.

Take the permission of your doctor before using this medicine in the conditions like cold, allergy, pain. At very rare cases, skin reaction and redness can be caused by the acetaminophen, if so then immediately call your doctor.

Dosage pattern of Tylenol:

Fever:

IV (intravenous):

Dosage depends upon the weight and age. If the patient is an adult of weight about 50kg and above, it is recommended to take 1000mg for every 6hrs, 650mg for every 4hrs, with a maximum single dose of 1000mg at minimum dose interval is 4hrs. The maximum daily dose of acetaminophen is 4000mg per day.

if the patient is an adult of weight about 50kgs and below can take 15mg of acetaminophen for every 6hrs or 12.5mg for every 4hrs, maximum dosing time interval is 4hrs, and the maximum dose required daily is about 75mg per day. Orally there are no adjustments is required between IV and oral.

Pain:

IV:

If the patient is an adult and his/her weight is about 50kg and above can take 1000mg for every 6hrs, 650mg for every 4hrs, with a maximum single dose of 1000mg at minimum dose interval, is 4hrs.

The maximum daily dose of acetaminophen of 4000mg per day.

If the patient is an adult and his/her weight is about 50kgs and below can take 15mgof acetaminophen for every 6hrs or 12.5mg for every 4hrs, maximum dosing time interval is 4hrs, and the maximum dose required daily is about 75mg per day. Orally there are no adjustments is required between IV and oral.

Children dose for fever:

Child about 28-32 weeks:

IV dose: The minimum dose of 10-20mg for every 12hrs can be given.

Oral dose: The minimum dose of 10-12mg dose for every 6-8hrs, the maximum daily dose is 40mg per day.

It is mostly recommended and caution to consult your doctor or pharmacist before giving any medicine to children or adults.

Tylenol overdose:

If you take acetaminophen in overdose the some side effects are shown like nausea, loss of appetite, stomach pain, confusion, sweating, and the other symptoms also include dark urine, stomach pain. If any of the listed side effects are seen or experienced by the patient consult your doctor immediately.

Overdose symptoms:

  • Pain and swelling of abdomen

  • Loss of appetite
  • Heavy Sweating

Tylenol side-effects:

  • Blood in urine
  • Lower back pain
  • Itching and skin rashes
  • Skin and eyes became yellow
  • Weakness
  • Sudden fall in the urine output
  • Ulcers in the mouth
  • High fever with chills
